Cup of Joy

Missionary Bio

Katie and Mario have worked seven years in the small town of La Venta, Honduras with a love to serve the people of their community in a way that draws them to Jesus. They serve in the church they helped plant in 2022, opening their home to host every opportunity they have. Mario also serves voluntarily as the “presidente” of the La Venta town council.

Katie and Mario met while Katie, daughter of missionaries, was on a missions trip to Honduras 10 years ago. Mario, who grew up in La Venta, came to Jesus at age 20 and since then has been dedicated to serving others for God’s glory. They were married in 2019 and now have two girls, ages 4 and 2.

Organization Impact

Through Bible studies, community projects, an in-home coffee shop aimed at the youth and young adults, and meeting the needs of families in their little town of 1000 people, the Velasquez family truly understands the meaning of community as we here at Bara have been learning about over the past month. They live out Galatians 6:10 which says, “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone -especially to those in the family of faith.”

Prayer Focus

It is a privilege to partner with Katie and Mario. Let’s keep them in our prayers!
